Ultimate Middle School is for campers entering 6th through 8th grades.  Campers choose a single specialty to focus on each morning through the week and spend their afternoons doing traditional camp activities. (E.g. If your camper chooses Art, they will do Art class for each morning Monday – Friday.)

*Campers will be in cohorts by the activity they choose. Cohorts will live together and do all activities together.

Art – Campers will try their hand at a number of different mediums including water colors, clay, photography and chalk. Different artist will come in each day to share their knowledge and skill. Campers will have a change to display their work at an end of the week art show.

Culinary Arts  Limited to 8 Chefs – Campers learn a variety of food preparation skills including knife skills, menu preparation, presentation and food types.  Campers will prepare different dishes and the week culminated in a team cooking competition.

Dance   – Campers construct and choreograph a variety of dance styles including theater jazz, basic ballet, liturgical expressions (with dowels or scarves), and Zumba, to name a few. There will be opportunities for performance at worship in the evenings and at the end of the week show.

Fishing  Limited to 8 – Campers will fish from the shores of West River, travel to some local area fishing spots and take an all-day charter trip on the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. There will also be opportunities to crab as well. Campers should bring their own rod and tackle if possible. Equipment will be provided on the charter trip. A $50 extra fee applies for the day long charter.

Games   Campers will be challenged to learn and hone their minds with strategy skills for all kinds of games. If you like a challenge of board games, card games, team challenges and speed challenges, this is the group for you.

Inventor’s Quest – Limited to 10  – Campers will have a chance to build and launch bottle rockets, explore electric circuitry, solve some escape room type puzzles, put together thier own electric model car and more testing their ingenuity and creativity.

Kayaking – This is for the experienced and beginner kayakers. Campers will practice and refine their skills kayaking on the West River. Campers will also take a longer day trip in the area.

Performing Arts –  Campers will learn and be exposed to a variety of “performance arts” including improvisation, short plays, skits, and music.  Guest instructors may come to share magic tricks, juggling and more!

Rescue Ready: First Responder TrainingLimited to 10 – Activity leaders are career first responders who will introduce campers to the many aspects of public safety careers and emergency services including fire, ambulance and police. Utilizing fun and exploratory, hands-on activities and demonstrations, campers will learn what being a first responder entails while developing skills that will benefit them on a daily basis. Campers will have the opportunity to earn certifications in some skills.

Sailing   Campers will learn to sail on 24’ Rainbows. They will learn terminology, points of sail, how to handle the tiller and how to rig the boat. There will be extended day trips out to Thomas Point lighthouse if the winds are favorable. There will be tracks for beginners to experienced sailors.

Sports  Campers will participate in a variety of sports including Ultimate Frisbee, kickball, capture the flag, volleyball, and some unconventional sports as well! Plus gaga ball, human foosball, and goofy games.  Good sportsmanship, teamwork and conditioning are emphasized!
